Regenerative Medicine

Knee Pain

Regenerative Medicine is a Natural, Non-Surgical, Minimally Invasive Alternative to Joint Replacement

Osteoarthritis – Injuries – Pain

What Is Regenerative Medicine?
Regenerative medicine is state-of-the-art, non-surgical, non-opioid treatment that relies on the  body’s natural ability to heal itself from many injuries and conditions.

Regenerative Medicine helps stimulate that natural self-healing.   It can often help your body heal faster, repair damaged tissues, reduce pain and improve your ability to function.
Conditions treated with Regenerative Medicine include:

  • Osteoarthritis / Arthritis
  • Cartilage injuries
  • Tendon injuries including “Tennis Elbow”, Rotator Cuff injuries and Achilles tendonitis
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Sacro-iliac joint pain
  • Muscle strains
  • Ligament sprains

There are several types of products used for this purpose including:

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP)
At Strive! we offer one the most common and most tested regenerative medicine procedure Platelet-Rich Plasma – PRP, fluoroscopy guided injections.

PRP is a solution made from your own blood.
The body’s first response to soft tissue injury is to deliver platelet cells. Packed with growth and healing factors, platelets initiate repair and attract the critical assistance of stem cells. Platelet Rich Plasma therapy helps “jump start” this natural healing process by delivering a higher concentration of platelets directly to the injured area.

How is PRP made?
A small sample of your blood is drawn (similar to a lab test sample) and placed in a centrifuge that spins the blood at high speeds, separating the platelets from the other components. The concentrated PRP solution is then gently guided to the injured site and injected into and around the point of injury, jump-starting and significantly strengthening the body’s natural healing.

Because your own blood is used, there is no risk of a transmissible infection and a very low risk of allergic reaction.

Note: PRP treatments may not work for everyone.
Furthermore, these procedures are not typically paid for my insurance plans and they can be expensive.
If you have questions about cost or how to pay for the procedures make sure to ask a member of your care team about payment options we have available

Viscosupplementation (Hyaluronic Acid)
Joint surfaces are covered with cartilage that allows the bones to move smoothly.  This joint cartilage is naturally lubricated with hyaluronic acid. As you age and develop wear & tear type arthritis (osteoarthritis) the joint generally has less hyaluronic acid which causes symptoms including pain, stiffness and swelling.

Using state-of-the-art fluroroscopy (X-Ray) Hyaluronic Acid is gently  guided to the joint to help improve lubrication and reduce symptoms.

Note: Viscosupplementation treatments may not work for everyone.
