Sciatica is a term used for when the sciatic nerve that runs down the back of the leg is irritated. When this nerve is inflamed it can cause pain, weakness, numbness, or tingling. It can make it hard to perform daily activities and keep you from enjoying life. It is a common misconception that when one has these symptoms that it is actually coming from the leg.
